RMR Football/Kootenay Football are excited to deliver a new and exciting model for flag football in the Kootenays - D1 Flag Football!

Modelled after the success of our NFL Flag leagues, the new D1 Flag model will continue to provide exceptional opportunities for the skill development of young athletes.

 

As our athletes continue to advance their skills, the time has come to elevate the competition. The D1 Flag Football format will provide those opportunities through a change in the competition structure. The new structure will move from mini tournaments to a league schedule, competitive standings, and other features that will bolster the achievements of our athletes.

In addition, our new community brands, modelled after Division 1 Football programs in the NCAA, will stay with communities year after year to develop a sense of local team pride, allow athletes to wear team gear from season to season, and establish some continuity for programs each fall.

Although there will be some changes to rules and schedules, we aim to continue to provide a fun, formative, and exciting opportunity to participate in sport throughout the Kootenays!

Age Divisions:

• JUNIOR (Gr. 4-6)

• SENIOR (Gr. 7-9)

*Cranbrook & Nelson to Gr. 9 play SR tackle​

Game Days (final schedule in late August):

• Wednesdays

• Sundays

*Some games may move to alternate days to accommodate schedules

Practices:

• Will vary based on coaches. Likely 2x per week (ie: Tues/Thurs)

• Confirmation in August or as coaches are finalized

​

Equipment:

• Cleats (preferred) or athletic footwear

​

Anticipated Teams:

EAST: Cranbrook, Invermere, Kimberley, Fernie, Sparwood, Golden

WEST: Creston, Nelson, Trail, Castlegar
